A player whom Steve Cordery had tracked ever since taking over at Staines, and who had played a handful of times in two different pre-season campaigns, Leroy was signed in August 2008, less than a week into the new season. Spent his early career with Sutton United, Banstead Athletic, and Corinthian-Casuals, then played under ‘Cords’ at Hampton & Richmond Borough from Feb 2000 (and had a 2-game trial with Norwich City). Sixteen months later, having scored 22 goals in 39 league & FA Cup games he was sold to Queens Park Rangers for £40,000, where he played 37 times (3 goals) interspersed by short loans at Conference sides Farnborough Town and Margate (3 apps). Signed for Farnborough Town for 2003/4 (1st XI total: 10 apps, 1 goal) before joining Fisher Athletic in 2005. Had an extended loan spell at Aldershot Town (17 apps, 6 goals), then was part of Grays Athletic’s successful 2004/5 (2 in 12). Returned to Fisher, then played the early part of last season with Havant & Waterlooville, Corinthian-Casuals, and Lewes, before a Jan ’08 return to the Football League with Gillingham. By the time of his release at the end of Jun ’08, he had scored twice in 24 games for them. Began last season with Eastleigh, before transferring to the Swans before the end of August and then, after just four appearances, he left for a sojourn playing professionally in Cyprus before he returned to Wheatsheaf Park in mid-January to play a starring role in the successful play-off bid. | ||||||
